Computer theft

An investigation was undertaken into a member of staff who was alleged to have stolen a number of pieces of IT hardware from a company and subsequently sold them on eBay. The case study lays out the work carried out by the NHSCFA FCU and how this work contributed to a successful prosecution and retrieval of NHS Patient funds.

Conflict of interest

The chief executive and director of finance of an ambulance trust were suspected of setting up a private business together and not informing the trust. Timesheet fraud

The manager of a hospital 'bank' created ten bogus employees in the payroll system over a period of two and a half years. She used the names of family and friends and submitted timesheets to claim for work that they had not done. Internet usage

A member of IT staff was suspected of misusing a trust's computer to access unsuitable websites, downloading pornography and using chat rooms during work hours.
