The post holder will work as part of a team whose remit is to ensure the successful creation and delivery of corporate governance and assurance programmes. These include the delivery of corporate governance and assurance activity, internal quality assurance activity specifically relating to ISO 17025 and the Forensic Science Regulator's Code of Practice as they relate to the Forensic Computing Unit (FCU), and engagement with external organisations and stakeholders in respect of compliance practices relating to the NHS Counter Fraud Authority, (NHSCFA).

Main duties of the job

The Senior Governance & Assurance Officer will be an expert in the delivery of a wide range of governance and compliance programmes to ensure satisfactory levels of corporate governance throughout the NHSCFA.

Main duties include:

Support the development of the Governance & Assurance, (G&A), strategy and annual workplan.

Develop methodology & deliver G&A reviews and perform other audit or review functions identified in the workplan to meet strategic objectives.

Produce clear and readable written guidance, procedures, policies, strategies, protocols and agreements that are accurate and up to date, and ensure that they are disseminated via the correct channels.

Provide regular in-depth governance and assurance updates to the Senior Management Team as well as to the Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee, (ARAC), for periodic review.

Work alongside the Governance & Assurance Lead and internal stakeholders to develop and maintain the NHSCFA Assurance Map for submission to the ARAC.

Prepare and maintain G&A unit policies, and other procedural documents in light of advice received as well as providing advice across the organisation on such documentation.

Provide regular detailed updates of work undertaken for quarterly review within the VERTO project Management system.
