NHSCFA response
Attached is a dataset providing the requested information held by NHS Counter Fraud Authority.
In response to ‘For the years above how many cases of fraud against the NHS did you pursue? What was the nature of the frauds?’
To provide information pertaining to the nature of the frauds would involve searching ‘free text’ and examination of individual case files, both electronic and paper files.
I estimate that the cost of complying with this part of the request would exceed the appropriate limit of £450. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 18 hours in determining whether the Authority holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting the information. Under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act the Authority is not obliged to comply with this part of the request.
In response to ‘…how much is the lost value to the NHS that is being pursued?’
This information is not recorded throughout the case life cycle. Therefore, I am unable to provide this information as it is not held by NHS Counter Fraud Authority.
Where figures for investigations are provided, this applies to closed investigations only.
