NHSCFA response

1. The category used to record incidents wherein non-staff have posed as staff in NHS trusts or at NHS sites.

The NHCFA has a taxonomy of fraud types for categories allegations. Incidents of this nature would be categorised as “Employees – Impersonating a Medical Professional”, which relates to someone presenting themselves as having medical qualifications they do not possess. There is also a category “Employees – Identity” which relates to a member of staff presenting with false identity documents.

2. The number of incidents listed under this category per year in England for each year from 2020-year most recent. Either calendar or financial year is fine, but please let me know which format is being used.

2A: Please break the data in number 2 down by Trust, where the information is available.

Attached is a spreadsheet which identifies the number of allegations received for each NHS organisation per calendar year from 2020-2025. There is one tab for each of the two categories.
