I have seen the real impact that the CFA makes daily over the past three years during our 2023 to 2026 Strategy.
I hope the focus on fraud will remain strong across the organisation, as the CFA has been an incredible success which can be a force for good across the healthcare sector, learning from past successes. Fraud is a pernicious crime that robs the Health Sector of valuable public resources and puts it in the hands of criminals.
The CFA impressively has a 5:1 ‘return-on-investment’ meaning any funds provided to the CFA, reaps 5 times that in resources protected. An impressive achievement that highlights the value of working hard to prevent fraud and should give confidence that investing in the CFA helps return vital resources to nurses, doctors, and hospitals for the benefit of the public.
Thank you to all the staff, executives and Board members at the CFA who have supported me during my time as Interim Chair. I have great confidence that the new Chair, Tom Hayhoe, will achieve great things with the organisation in the future.

I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chair of NHSCFA.
I hope my experience in previous NHS trust roles, in professional regulation and in my commercial career will allow me to support CFA achieve its goals and ambitions as one of the Department of Health and Social Care’s arm’s length bodies.
I look forward to working with my new colleagues making sure that all the money spent by the NHS is available for patient care and not syphoned off in fraud, bribery and corruption. This includes delivery of the next three-year phase of our strategy, building on last year’s strong performance last year.
Tom Hayhoe
Chair
