The assessment, which can be found on our corporate publications section, provides analysis on fraud bribery and corruption against the NHS in England including:
- identifying potential threats, vulnerabilities, and enablers
- reporting levels alleging fraud, bribery, and corruption against the NHS in England
- an estimate of NHS funding which is vulnerable to loss through fraud, bribery, and corruption
The estimate has risen by £30.9 million this year when compared with the previous SIA, which is partly due to an increase to budgets within the NHS. Although the overall financial vulnerability has increased, we saw a decrease in the percentage of the budget vulnerable to fraud. Showcasing an effective counter fraud approach across the health sector contrary to fraud increasing in England and Wales by 33% since 2017. We have also seen reporting increase by around 1.5% when compared with the previous year.
