Patient fraud guidance

Guidance that focuses on NHS patients who obtain treatement, service or medication they are not entitled to.

Patient fraud relates to any NHS patient who is using the NHS to obtain medical, dental, optical or pharmacy services for treatment, services or medication they are not entitled to. It also includes when someone dishonestly claims free entitlements or financial benefits they are not entitled to. This can result in financial loss to the NHS and takes away resources that are intended for patient care.
