Usage fraud

This relates to someone outside the NHS who has attempted or succeeded in using a facility intended only for use by the NHS.

Types of fraud involving this category


Telecoms

This relates to someone outside of the NHS utilising NHS telecoms airtime who does not have the authority to do so.

Plastic card

This relates to a plastic card (credit/debit/government procurement card) which has been illegally used or compromised by someone outside of the NHS.

Cheque

This relates to NHS cheques being illegally used or compromised by someone outside of the NHS.

NHS data

This relates to NHS data which has been obtained illegally by someone outside of the NHS.

Grant funding

This relates to funds acquired by a third party via a grant or other award. NOTE: please use the separately defined category for training bursaries and awards.

False information

This relates to a third party who is a recipient of a grant or funding by the NHS and has provided false or misleading information to secure the funding.

Used for another purpose

This relates to a third party who is in receipt of funding through an NHS grant and has diverted the funds elsewhere and has not used them in line with the terms of the agreement.

Staff collusion

This relates to someone in the NHS awarding the funding of a grant to the recipient for dishonest purposes.

Bribery

This relates to someone working for the NHS, Department of Health & Social Care or wider health group giving or receiving an inducement, gift or hospitality in order to influence the funding process of a grant.
